Job/Fellowship description

The research group of Prof. Morgado Dias (Interactive Technologies Institute - Partner of the Carnegie Mellon University - Portugal program) is looking for candidates for a project in Contactless Sleep Monitoring.

Requisitos de admissão
Requirements

Applicants should fulfill the following requirements:

• A Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering (preferred) or similar areas, completed before arrival.
• Must be registered as a PhD student (Mandatory)
• Good oral and spoken English as well as good communication skills. TOEFL or IELTS scores are encouraged. At least the English proficiency that fulfills the requirements of CSC applications is necessary.
• Teamwork spirit.
• Self-motivation and independent working ability.
• Knowledge of and research experience related to the above fields are strongly preferred.
• Previous published work is a preference factor.

Workplan

• Data collection in a non-invasive way, including the use of cameras to estimate sleep stages and heart beat rate;
• Automatic classification of sleep events, such as, for example, apnea events, with relevant feature extraction;

The work will be conducted at ITI - Interactive Technologies Institute (Funchal, Portugal), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Morgado Dias. Prof. Morgado Dias research expertise includes Artificial Neural Networks, FPGAs and Renewable Energy.

6 months,renewable. With an expected start on April 1^st, 2021.

Subsídio de manutenção mensal
Salary

The stipend will be of 1074,64€ (monthly stipend according to the table of values awarded by FCT, I.P. (http// www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores)). The stipend will be paid monthly by bank transfer. Voluntary Social Security (SSV) and Accidents insurance are also provided.
