ARDITI has officially launched PhD Empresas, a programme that supports the hiring of PhD researchers by companies in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, promoting knowledge transfer and the development of R&D+i projects aligned with the concrete challenges faced by regional companies.
At the same time, the programme positions itself as a meaningful alternative to an academic career for PhD holders, recognising them as highly qualified talent capable of generating value and innovation within the business sector.
With a duration of three years, the support consists of co-financing the employment contracts and providing structured guidance by specialised experts, ensuring an effective and impactful collaboration between researchers and companies.
This initiative aims to strengthen the innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability of the regional economy through the application of scientific knowledge in the productive sector.
The programme was officially presented to the public on 29 April 2025, at an event held at the Barceló Hotel in Funchal.
The session was attended by the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, and included a roundtable discussion on the challenges and opportunities of bridging science and business, featuring representatives from the regional business, academic and tech communities.
PhD Empresas is part of ARDITI’s broader strategy to bring science closer to market needs.
