Innovative Governance in Energy Communities Prize

The goal of this prize is to spotlight best practices that make community energy cleaner, fairer and more democratic. The prize will be awarded to up to ten winners as follows: 1st place: EUR 350 000; 2nd place: EUR 200 000; 3rd place: EUR 100 000; 4th place to 10th place: EUR 50 000.

6th Edition - Literary Prize João Augusto d'Ornelas

This is a cultural initiative aimed at honoring the memory of the 19th-century writer from Câmara de Lobos, encouraging literary creation, and promoting a love for reading and writing in the Portuguese language.

InART 2026 - International Conference on Innovation in Art Research and Technology | Funchal

The conference provides a vibrant interdisciplinary platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration across fields dedicated to the characterization, conservation, and sustainable preservation of cultural heritage. The event will open on 7 September with a special workshop on digital techniques and in-situ physical & chemical analysis.

FCT has published its calendar of calls and funding opportunities planned for 2026, providing an overview of expected opening and closing dates for major calls across scholarships, research projects, advanced computing access, international partnerships, and more. This calendar is updated regularly to reflect any changes and helps researchers and institutions plan their applications throughout the year. It includes scheduled deadlines for various programmes such as PhD studentships, R&D project funding, advanced computing projects, international partnerships and other initiatives.


FCT in collaboration with national partners, has strengthened the National Research Data Management Network, enhancing Portugal’s ecosystem for open research data. The initiative promotes best practices, interoperability and shared infrastructure for data stewardship, enabling researchers and institutions to improve data availability, reuse and compliance with open science mandates. By consolidating governance structures and technical capabilities across the network, this effort supports FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles and facilitates broader participation in European and international data initiatives.
