IMPLAMAC_CAP_2CAP is a project co-financed by the INTERREG MAC 2021–2027 Programme, which builds on the results of the IMPLAMAC project (2014–2020).
The initiative aims to capitalize on, improve, and transfer an innovative scientific methodology for monitoring microplastics in coastal areas, developed and validated in Macaronesia, while strengthening cooperation between European and African regions of the Atlantic.
The project seeks to enhance technical and institutional capacities for the monitoring and management of microplastic pollution by promoting:
- The consolidation of a Macaronesian regional observatory;
- The automation of analytical processes based on digital technologies and artificial intelligence;
- The training of technicians and researchers in the participating territories;
- The transfer of scientific knowledge to public policies, environmental education, and citizenship.
