Job: Research fellowship for graduate/bachelor degree (BI) - Marine Aquaponics;
Job/Fellowship Reference: ARDITI-OOM//2017/001;
Main research field: Biological sciences;
Sub research field: Biology;
In the scope of the project, the Oceanic Observatory of Madeira (OOM) is looking for Marine Biologist with expertise in aquaculture trials. The successful candidate will join the aquaculture research group, an interdisciplinary team with the following research topics: aquaculture species diversification, multi-trophic integrated aquaculture, physiological impact of environmental and behavioural variables. The candidate will be responsible by setting up and maintain experiments, including feeding trials, in aquatic closed systems.
The project ISLANDAP, R+D+I Towards Aquaponic Development in the Ultraperipheric Islands and the Circular Bioeconomy, (MAC/1.1A/207), financed under the Interreg MAC 2014-2020 Programme, aims to reinforce the I+D+I in sustainable production applying aquaponics adapted to the conditions in the Ultra-peripheral EU regions, creating a multidisciplinary network that promotes the sustainable primary production, the revalorization of bio-resources, biotechnology, circular economy and education in these areas.

4 points - Proven experience with setting up and conducting of feeding trials;
3 points - Proven experience with aquatic ornamental species;
2 points - Proven experience with aquaponics systems;
2 points - Proven experience in data analysis and reporting.
The selection is done based in the high FS score. In case of score tie between the top scored candidates, there will be a selection interview (I) to those candidates. The final score is obtained by the following formula: 0.6 x FS + 0.4 x I. If there is no interview, the final score will be equal to that obtained in the FS.
