FCT opened this Call for Advanced Computing Projects (CPCA) to technologically support advanced computing projects in all scientific domains (A0 and A1).

Projects under this strand should help to achieve the long-term vision of the new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change that, in 2050, the EU will be a climate-resilient society that is fully adapted to the unavoidable impacts of climate change. Projects should help to reinforce adaptive capacity, strengthen resilience, and reduce vulnerability, in line with the Paris Agreement and the proposed European Climate Law.

Projects under the Climate Change Mitigation Priority Area should contribute to the socially just and sustainable transition towards a climate-neutral economy by 2050 and to reaching the EU emission reduction target for 2030 to at least 55% compared with 1990 levels.

LIFE Climate Change Governance and Information aims at supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of the Union legislation and policy on climate change, contributing to climate change mitigation and/or adaptation. This includes improving governance through enhancing the capacities of public and private actors and the involvement of civil society.

The topic aims to provide local and regional authorities with the necessary capacity to deliver sustainable plans and strategies for the energy transition. To successfully support the achievement of energy and climate targets, transition strategies, and plans need to be institutionalized, cross-sectoral, and tailored to the level of innovation, ambition, and specific geographic context of the involved authorities.

The EEA Grants Environment Program launches a call with the objective of funding projects in disadvantaged territories, inland, and specific forests in Portugal considered highly vulnerable to climate change. These projects should promote the sustainable management of ecosystems in susceptible areas and the recovery of affected areas, as well as the protection and conservation of soils.

Applications must be submitted using the respective application form and annexes available on the EEA Grants website.

Excellence hubs are an initiative to strengthen regional innovation excellence in placed-based innovation ecosystems by cross-border collaboration on a common strategy and/or alongside value-adding chains. Place-based innovation ecosystems are interconnected companies, research institutions, governmental bodies, and societal actors that are mutually reinforcing each other in a territorial context and together raise the level of innovation excellence in their regional fabric.


Deadline: proposals may be submitted at any time

The objective of the call is to provide a framework to rapidly respond to new innovative ideas. The scope of the call covers elements of Block 4 of Future EO-1 Segment 1. The particular focus for innovative activities under each element is as follows: Grand Science Challenges; EO for a Resilient Society; Artificial Intelligence for EO; Regional Initiatives; EO for Civil Security. Any individual contract will be limited to a Firm Fixed Price of up to 150KEuro and to a maximum duration of 12 months.
