‍NATIONAL CALLS

Deadline: February 28, 2022,  17:00 Lisbon time

The Ministery of Agriculture has announced two calls for research projects, one aims to promote sustainable development, efficient management of natural resources – such as water, soil and biodiversity – and the enhancement of endogenous resources in national territories; the other aims to find answers that promote the digitization and application of digital technologies to improve agricultural and agri-food productivity, placing knowledge as a factor for competitiveness and equality.

FCT opened this Call for Advanced Computing Projects (CPCA) to technologically support advanced computing projects in all scientific domains (A0 and A1).

Deadline: January 12, 2022, 17:00 Brussels time

The topic aims to provide local and regional authorities with the necessary capacity to deliver sustainable plans and strategies for the energy transition. To successfully support the achievement of energy and climate targets, transition strategies, and plans need to be institutionalized, cross-sectoral, and tailored to the level of innovation, ambition, and specific geographic context of the involved authorities.


Deadline: January 18, 2022, 17:00 Brussels time

The EEA Grants Environment Program launches a call with the objective of funding projects in disadvantaged territories, inland, and specific forests in Portugal considered highly vulnerable to climate change. These projects should promote the sustainable management of ecosystems in susceptible areas and the recovery of affected areas, as well as the protection and conservation of soils.

Applications must be submitted using the respective application form and annexes available on the EEA Grants website.

Xecs runs calls on an annual basis. Each call is guided by the ECS Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and supported by countries across the Eureka network. The call cycle allows extensive opportunity to generate project ideas and build collaborative consortia – with events organised to support the process

Excellence hubs are an initiative to strengthen regional innovation excellence in placed-based innovation ecosystems by cross-border collaboration on a common strategy and/or alongside value-adding chains. Place-based innovation ecosystems are interconnected companies, research institutions, governmental bodies, and societal actors that are mutually reinforcing each other in a territorial context and together raise the level of innovation excellence in their regional fabric.

Eurostars is a funding instrument that supports innovative SMEs and project partners (large companies, universities, research organisations and other types of organisations) by funding international collaborative R&D and innovation projects. Applications will open on January 21, 2022.


Deadline: proposals may be submitted at any time

The objective of the call is to provide a framework to rapidly respond to new innovative ideas. The scope of the call covers elements of Block 4 of Future EO-1 Segment 1. The particular focus for innovative activities under each element is as follows: Grand Science Challenges; EO for a Resilient Society; Artificial Intelligence for EO; Regional Initiatives; EO for Civil Security. Any individual contract will be limited to a Firm Fixed Price of up to 150KEuro and to a maximum duration of 12 months.

The workshop will present the results of seven years of investments in research and innovation towards smart, green, and integrated waterborne transport, which took place in the framework of Horizon 2020. The event will also provide an outlook to the future in the light of the new Horizon Europe program.


February 8-9, 2022

So how is the program going? In this annual Science|Business Network conference, our members and guests will offer the first public assessments of Horizon Europe.

The conference assessments will be assisted by surveys and research by the Science|Business news team in the months leading up to the event. The results will include a high-impact white paper summarising the views of our members and guests – a first report card for Europe's biggest bet on the future.

RESEARCH RECRUITMENT

A call is open for one research fellow at the ARDITI, under the SEE_App project. The main task for the accepted candidate will be to conduct research towards the area of behavioral approaches to physical activity and general health promotion, risk assessment, lifestyle profile, multimodal signal processing systems for the quantification and evaluation of human activity, physiological assessment of human fitness, emotional and cognitive states.

A call is open for a Scientific Initiation Studentship (BIC) at ARDITI, under the SEE_App project. The main task for the accepted candidate will be to help the development of a web app to support surveillance health systems in the school context, including surveillance and response to outbreaks of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.


Deadline: January 15, 2022

A call is open for one research assistant at the NeuroRehabLab - ARDITI, under the Project MACbioIDi2. The main task for the accepted candidate will be to conduct research towards implementing and improving the Open Rehab Initiative online platform.

The European Commission has recently published the I&I topics to support the 5 missions of Horizon Europe work program. The Commission launched five new EU missions, an unprecedented and innovative way to work together and improve people's lives inside and outside Europe. EU missions aim to respond to major health, climate, and environmental challenges and achieve ambitious and inspiring goals in these fields. 


The European Commission held a workshop on November 23 on “lump sum” funding in Horizon Europe, with a view to presenting the results obtained from a pilot developed under Horizon 2020, and presenting the planned implementation modalities for the period 2021-2027.
