PROCiência 2020, Incentive System for the Production of Scientific and Technological Knowledge of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, is aimed directly at companies (SMEs and Non-SMEs) and with the objective of strengthening the competitive capacity of the regional economy by boosting projects in strategic areas Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) in companies, between companies and the entities that make up the Regional System for the Development of Research, Technology, and Innovation (SRDITI) and Higher Education institutions, fully aligned with the objectives and priorities defined within the scope of the regional RIS3, in order to ensure a threshold of technological skills that allow the transformation of the knowledge generated into new products and services.

The EIC Accelerator Challenges supports companies (principally start-ups and SMEs) to scale up high impact innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones in identified areas of strategic relevance. The EIC Accelerator Challenges focus on innovations building on scientific discovery or technological breakthroughs (‘deep tech’) and where significant funding is needed over a long timeframe before returns can be generated (‘patient capital’).

The EUREKA Cluster Eurogia, together with EUREKA Public Authorities of the participating countries have perceived a common cross-domain interest for Technology-driven green transition projects addressing issues such as Energy preservation, Sustainable manufacturing, Bioresources, and Biodiversity. The aim of this Call is to boost the productivity, competitiveness and environmental sensitivity of European industries through using innovative technologies to dramatically reduce their environmental footprint.

The aim is to fund ambitious transnational RTD projects addressing materials research and innovation including materials for low carbon energy technologies, future batteries technology, and related production technologies. M-ERA.NET aims to strengthen the contribution of materials R&D to energy-related applications where applicable.

The present call targets projects on low-carbon technologies and processes in all sectors covered by Directive 2003/87/EC (the EU ETS Directive): Innovation in low-carbon technologies and processes in sectors listed in Annex I, including environmentally safe carbon capture and utilization (‘CCU’) that contributes substantially to mitigating climate change, as well as products substituting carbon-intensive ones produced in sectors listed in Annex I, environmentally safe capture and geological storage (‘CCS’) of CO2, and innovative renewable energy and energy storage technologies.

This Eureka Clusters AI Call 2021 is specifically designed to stimulate activity in this important area, through the creation of transnational collaborative projects in applications that will support economic growth and benefit society as a whole. The aim of this Call is to boost the productivity and competitiveness of European industries through the adoption and use of AI systems and services.

This Open Call aims to finance enterprises to develop, apply and commercialize innovative products and technologies, especially SMEs.


Deadline: July 1, 2021, 17:00 Brussels time

Central objective of this call is to develop and implement the pilot(s) of the European Master of Science (MSc) programme(s) for High Performance Computing (HPC). The graduate education programme(s) will focus HPC and HPC-usage. They will demonstrate the added value of a pan-European education programme, committed to academic excellence, that offers students an outstanding career perspective in international companies and research institutes.


Deadline: August 31, 2021, 17:00 Brussels time

ERC Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognized track record of research achievements. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition, and feasibility of their scientific proposal. Researchers with a track record of at least ten years can apply for up to €2.5 million.

The EIC Transition Open aims at funding innovation activities that go beyond the experimental proof of principle in laboratory. The EIC Transition Open is twofold, supporting both the maturation and validation of a novel technology, and the development of a business case and business model towards the innovation’s future commercialisation. EIC Transition projects should address both technology and market/business dimensions where iterative learning processes based on early customer feedback is possible. Challenges & Prizes

If you have a project that contributes to creating beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive places in Europe - it may be eligible for one of the prizes available. Applications are now open until the end of this month. The prizes recognize and reward New European Bauhaus-minded projects that champion sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion in European communities and practices, paving the way to the future. Prizes are €30,000 for winners of The New European Bauhaus Awards and €15,000 for winners of The New European Bauhaus Rising Stars.

The challenge is to develop a European technologically non-dependent solution for launching light satellites into Low-Earth Orbit (LEO), which will enable dedicated low-cost launches with committed schedule and orbit. The solution needs to be innovative, implementable, affordable in development and exploitation phases, and commercially viable. Prize: 10M€.

The prize is awarded to the most talented women entrepreneurs from across the EU and countries associated to Horizon Europe, who have founded a successful company and brought innovation to market. In the ‘Women Innovators’ main category, three prizes of EUR 100 000 each are awarded to the women who, in the opinion of the jury, have excelled in all award criteria and stood out amongst the other applicants. In the second category, one prize of EUR 50 000 is awarded to a promising ‘Rising Innovator’ aged 30 or younger.

The main objective of the prize is to develop an innovative solution that will allow tracking all commercial freight trains, from all railway undertakings, covering the whole European network. A call is open for one Research Scholarship (BII) at the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI) of ARDITI - Agência Regional para o Desenvolvimento da Investigação, Tecnologia e Inovação, under the R&D project “Projeto Estratégico UIDP/50009/2020” with the funding support from FCT/ MCTES through national funding.

Other

The 2021Annual Work Program for the implementation of the Creative Europe Program is out.
The new Programme builds on and continues the structure of the previous one with a budget of EUR 2.4 billion for the period 2021-2027.


The European Commission launched Open Research Europe, a platform that will grant access to scientific publications open to all.


As a follow-up to its Digital Decade Communication of 9 March, the Commission launched a public consultation on the formulation of a set of digital principles to promote and uphold EU values in the digital space. This consultation, open until September 2, 2021, seeks to open a wide societal debate and gather views from citizens, non-governmental and civil society organizations, businesses, administrations and all interested parties. These principles will guide the EU and Member States in designing digital rules and regulations that deliver the benefits of digitalisation for all citizens.
